The Observer 40th Anniversary

The Fordham Observer celebrated its 40th anniversary year in 2021. I had the privilege of designing promotional branding for the yearlong fundraising and celebration campaign.

The 40 mark draws heavily from The Observer’s first nameplate. I’ve borrowed the heavy sans-serif type, and I used the aperture icon to replace the zero — much like it replaces the O in Observer in the original nameplate.

As part of a larger nameplate digitization project, I was able to trace and optimize The Observer’s first nameplate to use throughout this project.

Applications range from merchandise shop promotions to magazine covers, social media graphics and fundraising materials.
